Read the complete deletion dialog before you confirm. It lists the affected data, access changes, retained records, and cancellation period. Use the exact dates and period shown by your installation; the normal grace period is 14 days.
Deletion emails say whether Deletion applies to a User account or an Organisation. A user-account notice shows the Sign-in email and, when recorded, Display name. An organisation notice names the organisation. Requested and reminder emails show Scheduled deletion with the time zone; completion emails show Deleted on. Quote the full Deletion reference if you contact support about the request. Keep the cancellation link private.
Delete your account
Open Profile and Delete account. Confirm with your current password, a fresh two-factor code when required, and the exact email address. A provider-only account must sign in again with its provider within the allowed time.
An account cannot be deleted while it is the only active administrator of an organisation with other members. Appoint another administrator or arrange deletion of that organisation first. If you own an organisation that has other members, you also cannot delete your account: transfer ownership to another administrator, or delete the organisation, first. Organisations in which you are the only member are listed for deletion with your account. Other organisations keep their shared data and lose your membership. Any support requests you own, including requests about those organisations, are removed when your account is permanently erased. Their conversations and screenshots are removed too; deleting your account does not recall email copies already delivered. See When access ends or an account is deleted.
Access stops immediately after the request, and you are signed out of every connected product at once. Permanent erasure occurs after the grace period. If products are connected to your account, Sentinel then sends the deletion to each product first and waits until each confirms it has erased your data, or up to 72 hours (the default; your installation may use another limit), before erasing the account. Use the cancellation email link or the sign-in recovery flow before the final date to cancel a pending account deletion. Once connected products have been sent the deletion, it can no longer be cancelled.
Deleting your account does not cancel invitations issued to your email address by other organisations. Ask the sending organisation to cancel an unwanted invitation. Their notices can remain until their normal expiry.
The requested and reminder emails list organisations scheduled for deletion with your account, or None. Membership can change during the grace period: if you become an organisation's only member before deletion runs, that organisation and its data will also be deleted. The completion email names the organisations actually deleted with your account. A cancellation email names the organisation deletions cancelled with it. To stop a pending request before its deadline, use Cancel user account deletion in the email.
Delete an organisation
Only the organisation owner can start a deletion. The owner opens Settings → Data and privacy and uses Delete organisation. Other administrators do not get this action, but they can still cancel a pending deletion. Type the exact organisation name and complete the identity checks. Members keep their own accounts and other organisations, but access to this organisation stops. Site keys and Connector submissions stop too.
Organisation-deletion emails identify the organisation and explain that your personal Sentinel sign-in account remains. The email action is Cancel organisation deletion while cancellation is available.
An organisation that holds billing for other organisations still in use cannot be deleted first. Follow the displayed dependency error. A pending organisation deletion can be cancelled from the dashboard banner or its emailed link by an eligible administrator. You can close the banner with its close button; it stays closed in that browser for that deletion, and the emailed link still cancels it. Restoration can be refused if no active administrator remains, the covering organisation is unavailable, or restored memberships would exceed the shared 50-person capacity. Restoring active sites also checks the billing allowance and current activation safeguards.
Sentinel support (a platform administrator) can also schedule an organisation deletion, or cancel one that is pending. The same timeline and grace period apply. Active administrators receive the usual email saying that a Sentinel platform administrator requested deletion, or cancelled it and restored access. Before the final date, an eligible administrator can cancel a deletion that support requested, from the dashboard banner or the emailed link. Contact support if you did not expect the request.
Deleting an organisation cancels its paid subscription and removes saved cards. Cancelling deletion restores eligible access but does not restore the subscription. Review Billing after cancellation. Permanent erasure also removes support requests belonging to the organisation, including their conversations and screenshots. Members’ account support requests and requests about other organisations remain. After permanent erasure, deletion cannot be undone. Some records can be retained for the reasons stated in the dialog and Privacy Policy.
Transfer ownership
The owner can hand the organisation to another administrator. Use this before you delete your own account or when someone else should run the organisation.
- The new owner must already be an Organisation admin of this organisation. If they are not, change their role first on Members.
- Open Members and select Transfer ownership on your own row.
- Choose the administrator who will become the owner and confirm. If you use two-factor sign-in, Sentinel asks for a fresh code.
After the transfer, you stay an administrator. These follow the new owner: who manages the subscription on the current pricing contract, Black membership coverage, and the organisation's schedule time zone (taken from the new owner's profile, so Monday summaries and report months can shift). If you or the new owner has Black membership, the transfer is refused. Contact Sentinel support to arrange it. Only the owner sees Transfer ownership. The owner's row has no role change or removal action.
Ask for a copy of your data
There is no export button in the dashboard. If you want a copy of your data, ask Sentinel support, including during the 14 days after a deletion request. Support can export an organisation or a single account. This is available on request, not yet for every installation.
For an organisation, support sends the link to an organisation administrator you choose. For an account, it goes to the account holder. The email links to a page called Download your data, at /data-export. You do not need to sign in. Select Download to save a zip file.
- The link works once. When the download finishes, the file is removed from Sentinel's systems, so keep your copy somewhere safe.
- The link expires after 7 days, or on the deletion date if that comes sooner. If nothing downloads, the link has been used or has expired. Ask support for a new export.
- An organisation archive holds only the support tickets the recipient raised. Other members' tickets come with an export of their own account.
If you ask in writing, support can also erase your organisation or account before the 14 days end, or erase one site and its data. Erasing cannot be undone, so ask for your copy first.
